2010 Kids' Ocean Day at Crown Point Shores a Big Success! Thank you to all of the students, teachers, parents and volunteers who participated and helped coordinate the Kids’ Ocean Day clean up and aerial art event on May 27, 2010! Together we collected more than 300 pounds of litter from Crown Point Shores! The litter primarily consisted of cigarette butts, balloon fragments, and small pieces of plastic which weigh very little, but cause the most harm to the marine ecosystem. Following the cleanup, the students took a "stand in the sand" by creating an image of a local endangered species, the California least tern, with the message, “Sustain Life.” This message is a reminder for all of us to evaluate our daily habits to ensure a healthy future for all life.
